Philosophy

Southern California Alcohol & Drug Programs (SCADP) views domestic violence as a public health threat and sees a clear relationship between chemical dependence and domestic violence. SCADP asserts that women and their families have the right to live without fear, violence, degradation, or abuse of any kind within their households, and that victims are not responsible for the abuse and violence perpetrated upon them. SCADP believes that domestic violence is a societal problem that must be addressed as a community effort. We encourage each family member involved in a battering situation to make their own decision by gaining access to necessary resources.

"Children that witness violence or parental substance abuse or dependence are at risk for adult alcoholism or drug abuse."
