Case Management
Victims of domestic violence enter our shelter by calling the 24-hour crisis hotline operated by the shelter. Once the client enters the shelter, she participates in an intake interview, receives emergency clothing, meets with a case coordinator, completes a safety plan, and is assisted with gaining access to any emergency medical care. Shelter staff use the information obtained from the survivor during the intake and assessment process and individual sessions to develop a service plan that outlines the services needed while the survivor is a resident at the shelter. These service needs include, but are not limited to assistance applying for food stamps and cash assistance, obtaining identification, filling for a restraining order, locating legal aide services, and court accompaniment. Shelter staff also locate suitable treatment or transitional housing programs for shelter residents at completion of the 45-day emergency shelter period.
